I like wine. A good-quality red wine, of course, but most of all chilled white wine and sparkling champagne. Some time ago I started collecting the corks, as I didn’t have the heart to throw them out. After all, they are often reminiscent of a pleasant evening, something that had been celebrated. The corks were generally small mementos of delightful moments. But after I’d been saving them for a while, my cork collection started getting a bit too much, looking almost corny and kitsch. Now, I throw away most corks, saving only those from the nicest or most important events – and occasionally, I turn them into small cork animals. For example, this shark was made from the corks collected during a particularly nice boat trip.
