Colourfull 1960 house

Interiors from the 1960s were characterised by their clean, Scandinavian style and bold use of colour, and the furniture from that era are today’s classics.

Retro style with a modern look

When Lulu Mosquito decorates private homes, we always start by considering the people that live there – i.e. their tastes, preferences and wishes – but also the existing architecture and the inherent style of the property. Interior fashion is ever-changing, but every era from the past provides beautiful elements that can be used in a modern 2023 home to give it a little extra edge and personality..

The house is a yellow-brick property with a flat roof, built in 1964. It is typical of its time and is brimming with fine details. The current owners bought the house in 2007 from the original owner, an architect who designed and built the house himself. The couple wanted to preserve the attractive retro style, but were also keen to have a modern look.

Lulu Mosquito was involved in the project from the outset. Many small details were left untouched, and the unique yellow-brick walls were preserved in most rooms. Only a few surfaces were plastered and painted white to create a tranquil background for the family’s collection of art.
